What are Travel Buddy Projects?
Travel buddy projects have been around for over 20 years and began in Australia. Similar to a Flat Stanley project, a stuffed toy is sent to visit other locations. The difference is a buddy will stay with a classroom for an extended period of time, participates in student home visits, and requires students to write in a travel journal which builds their literacy skills. The real power of these projects is the emotional connection children make to these toys which leads to personalized learning experiences for all students involved.
